The weather here has been pretty awful. Cold. Snow. Insane windchills. So, I've not had anything fun to update this blog with.
*We are still stoveless. Blah. It's hard to move a stove into a house when there's the danger of you slipping on ice and the stove crushing you. Just saying!
* We've taken in another cat, part time. This is Butterscotch. She and Sparrow are um, working on an agreement. Sparrow is set in her ways and for now, Butterscotch isn't a part of the routine.
*We've gotten a new fish to replace the one we lost. Meet Hawkeye.
*Due to a recent health scare (which turned out to be nothing, Praise God!) I'm back on the weightloss train. Also, I'm severely cutting back on caffeine (which kind of scares me....) Pray for me. Pray for my poor husband who will be seeing the fallout from a somewhat decaffeinated wife ;)
*Speaking of husbands....Gabe and I celebrated 10 years of being together!!! We've been through some pretty rough stuff together, but he is truly a blessing from God!

2/52
2/52: I caught her mid-song
2/52, Sunday. This girl is all leg. Nope, her shoes don't match but I don't care. She loves her necklace, it was a birthday present last year.

Meal Plan Monday, Some Sad News, and Random Beauty
I'll start with the sad news. After nearly two years of happy life, our fish Cottontail died this morning. Yes, he is only a fish but we were all pretty attached, even Gabe.
He had a good life, and the only time Sparrow ever showed interest in him was right before our move and even then she didn't really want to eat him. This weekend, Ella and I are going out of town, and will likely buy a new fish. The sight of the empty little tank breaks my heart.
Here's the Meal Plan for this week:
Monday: Baked Rotini. This would have been dinner yesterday, but we were at church all day. So, sandwiches and soup it was. Oh, and we had leftover chili from lunch at church. We didn't go hungry ;)
Tuesday: Chinese Pork and Broccoli in the crockpot. It's going to be one of THOSE Tuesdays.
Wednesday: Baked chicken strips and fries.
Thursday: Fajitas and Rice. Trying a new recipe for the fajitas!
Friday: That will likely be the day that Ella and I go out of town, and I think we will just suck it up and get pizza or something to take home.
Saturday: Gumbo. Wish me luck. Hubby hates okra, but I've been craving it.
Sunday: Spaghetti. Extra mushrooms.
Now, for the random beauty. Today was freezing outside and then my fish died and it was just...ugh.
While feeling sad and sorry and just all around down, I noticed the daffodil plant that Gabe and Ella bought me. I watched it throughout the day and here is what I saw.

Ringing in the New Year, Girls and Pearls Style!
We literally waited until the LAST day of December to have our Girls and Pearls day. We stayed up and ushered in the New Year. We made fun festive crowns, had devotions and watched movies. (No pictures were taken of the movie-watching seeing as we were too busy actually watching movies)
Happy New Year, ya'll!

52 Weeks 2015: 1/52
A new year, a new 52 weeks! You can look at the past year of posts here
1/52. She's making an omelet. We're all still trying to figure out this new kitchen.
1/52, Sunday. She is so grown up. Side note: I'm totally painting those walls this spring. Bleh! Also, trying to figure out the lighting in this house.

Meal Plan Monday: The Last of the Year!
It's the last Monday of 2014.
...and I thought 2013 was crazy!
2014 was about twice as insane and fast-paced.
But, I also got the whole meal planning thing down in 2014, and that's something my family is super grateful for!
This weekend, I fed my OCD and made a list of absolutely everything food-wise I have in my house, and based my meal plan off of that. Here's what I discovered.
I have:
*Entirely too many cans of pinto beans
*Way too many cans of sweet peas
*only one can of diced tomatoes. Wait, that's NO diced tomatoes because I used them today.
*Extreme OCD, but I totally already knew that.
Here's the Meal Plan for the week. Going to try to stick to it because my Meal Plan train derailed bigtime last week!
Monday: Chicken Spaghetti/Chicken and Rice with Veggies (why two meals? because we all had leftovers yesterday!)
Tuesday: Tortilla Roll-ups with Mexican-style ground turkey (I hope this one turns out)
Wednesday: French Bread Pizzas
Thursday: Chicken Stew
Friday: Mac and Cheese. Maybe Pizza.
Saturday: Pizza Soup
Sunday: One-pot Spaghetti
Oh. And my hyacinth bloomed fully today.
